Chinaโs secrecy around its military operations sets the stage for stories like this.
A spectacular video circulates, people ask
but no credible, official explanation comes. That vacuum breeds wild speculation.
But, based on the footage, hereโs what I think we can reasonably infer:
The footage reportedly shows two suspected missile launches, about five minutes apart, that converge on an unknown object(s) before a bright explosion.
Local reports say windows rattled, loud noises were heard consistent with ordnance in flight or intercepts.
But Chinese authorities remain silent, likely deliberately. Thatโs typical of Beijing when something sensitive (or embarrassing) is involved.
From a strategic lens, this event underscores a few troubling realities:

Thereโs also an uncomfortable possibility (which, when the video is seen from another angle seems likely):
What if the object was something China itself launched?
If it was, then I think a failure of some kind of test, a satellite fragment, or an internal hardware failure, and the choice to shoot it down rather than admit internal failure is more about saving face than about defense.
(Not just that, but when you see other videos of hellfire missiles just bouncing off of UFOs, this looks like the Chinese “UFO” was 99.9999% likely to have been terrestrial in origin.)
