Moses Gaster

1856–1939

Moses Gaster (1856-1939) was a Romanian-born British scholar, folklorist, and Haham (spiritual leader) of the Spanish and Portuguese Sephardic communities in England. He published widely on Jewish folklore, magic, apocryphal literature, and Samaritan studies, including "The Wisdom of the Chaldeans: An Old Hebrew Astrological Text" (1900), reprinted from the Proceedings of the Society of Biblical Archaeology.
